Moving floor trailers of 14.97 m. (Long-HGV)

In Germany, the demand for longer trailers has been rising for several years. In the framework of Special Solutions, Knapen Trailers has closely monitored this development since the vehicles were initially approved by the Federal Ministry of Transport. We offer German customers in this segment a unique solution: A self-supporting, moving floor trailer with a length of 14.97 m. and a large cargo capacity of more than 100 m³.

Unique construction
Knapen Trailers is extremely experienced in constructing longer, moving floor trailers. We have years of expertise in engineering such constructions, up to a length of 17.1 m! The market highly values our unique construction method. Unlike many other producers, Knapen constructs its trailers using continuous, single piece profiles. This offers multiple advantages for the rigidity of the construction combined with the operation of the trailer. In practice too, drivers notice the difference every day: A continuous upper rail made from a single profile allows the driver to smoothly move the moveable bulkhead over the entire length of the trailer. As there are no transitions from one profile to another, the rollers will move effortlessly, which makes the driver's work much less frustrating! The bottom edge and the floor planks are also specially extruded and mounted in one piece for this length of trailer. That is a unique feature!

Ziegler Group orders six trailers
In November 2020, in cooperation with our dealer Christoph Breitfeld, we constructed six moving floor trailers of 14.97 m. (Long HGVs) for the Ziegler Group from Plössberg (DE). The Ziegler Group is specialised in processing and transporting wood. To complement their existing fleet, they were looking for trailers that offered additional loading volume without increasing the impact on the environmental.

The moving floor trailers for the Ziegler Group have a standard fifth wheel height. With the slightly conical construction, they have a large loading volume of 101.5 m³. Thanks to the extra length, there is space for up to 36 pallets. The trailers are equipped with SAF VSE smart steering on the 3rd axle. This electrohydraulic steering assistance system allows a self-tracking axle to be steered actively during forward and reverse driving. The trailers are also equipped with a smartboard and a camera at the rear of the trailer.

The Ziegler Group sponsors the German ice hockey team the Blue Devils from Weiden. This team plays in the German Oberliga (Upper league). As part of the cooperation between both parties, one of the new Knapen trailers ordered by Ziegler features Blue-Devils style lettering.
